Reward Offered in Watchung Bank Robbery

FBI and local law enforcement investigating theft.

A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information regarding a recent robbery of the Watchung Circle branch of the Chase Bank, Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey D. Soriano said Friday.

The robbery occurred at about 1:30 p.m. June 6, when a man described by investigators as a "black male wearing dark clothing" robbed the bank of an undisclosed amount of money after brandishing a handgun.

He took off on foot after the robbery; police searched the area for several hours afterwards, but did not find the suspect.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, out of the Franklin Township office, the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office and detectives with the Watchung Borough Police Department.
