After a mess of a season, the Jets look to move forward with the right signal caller. Who do you think is the better option this season?
Practice makes perfect, and if you take a look at the Jets’ performance last season, they need a lot of practice. But don't fear Jets fans, Gang Green is already on the practice field at the Atlantic Health Jets Training Center in Florham Park. Hundreds of fans attended the team's mini-camp Tuesday and got a good look at the Jets' current quarterback competition. While projected starter Mark Sanchez was throwing a pass, a Jets fan could be heard saying, “he looks good out there, he is in control,” while another muttered, “False leadership.” Draft pick Geno Smith and Sanchez took turns running the offense, but pay no mind to the order in which the names are written. Geno looked good and was putting the ball on the money but Sanchez was much…

Jess Gaeta's two RBIs give underdog Warriors key victory.
The Livingston Lancers came into Tuesday's game with Watchung Hills ranked No. 2 in the state and heavily favored to win—but the Warriors seemed to thrive on being the underdog, handing them a defeat. 1 It was a beautiful afternoon at Nutley's Yantican Park, the site of the semi-final round of the NJSIAA Group IV Championship. When the teams took the field, it took a minute to realize that you were not seeing double but that the two teams were dressed in all in black. Livingston blasted out to an immediate advantage when lead off batter Kaylie McLaughlin hit a soaring shot over the left center field fence for a home run. Unshaken, the Warriors, behind pitcher Abby Cline, would make that the Lancers' only run of the game. Cline would …

Team is making history advancing towards a state championship.
When the Watchung Hills Regional girls softball team faces Livingston tomorrow in the Group IV semifinals, the team will be facing a tough foe. Head Coach Michael D'Alessandro said about all he knows about the team is that "they are very good," boasting a no. 2 state ranking (compared to Watchung Hills' no. 13). But his team is used to being the underdog, beating up on the higher-ranked teams through much of this tournament season. "We’ll be the underdogs, but we don’t worry about those things," he said. "We just prepare to play our game and execute our plan to the best of our ability." And, he noted, "that approach has served us well." It has—after clinching the regionals last week, the team's growing list of accomplishments is making …

Defense keeps game tied until seventh inning.
It was near record temperatures Friday afternoon when the Watchung Hills Warriors traveled to host North Hunterdon for the North 2, Group 4 Championship game. The two teams played through six scoreless innings, broken up by the game's only run scored in the top of the seventh inning. The two teams depended on different skills to hold the opponent down. North Hunterdon was led by pitcher Mason Spichiger who had nine strike outs, one walk and gave up only three hits. Watchung Hills' Abby Cline pitched a 5-hitter, with a single strike out and a walk, depending heavily on the defense. "It was definitely a pitcher' battle," said Cline. "But is was the amazing defensive plays from our team that made this win. They are so good with our defense …
