If we cut off this mans ear (eye for an eye), I am positive people would think before they didRead More violent things to another person. Same thing with a thief, cut off his hand for stealing! It is time our legal system had some bite to it!

This is not local news. Why is this article here?
“You're going to shut your mouth or I'm going to have some duct tape put on it," Judge John McBain told Camia Gamet during her sentencing Wednesday. (Screenshot: WJBK Video)

If this was a domestic incident and she stabbed because he was hurting her then good for him. UntilRead More they protect victims of domestic abuse this is what shoukd occur and she has every right to laugh at what she did. Now if she committed a random killing then i side with the judge.

Give her a few more hot dogs and a few big gulps, maybe she'll explode herself and save the expenseRead More of keeping her in prison. You know what it's going to cost Michigan to feed her? I don't favor the the death penalty in certain circumstances, but apparently she does. And the judge-I think he showed restraint considering her complete lack of respect, obviously for not only everyone else but herself as well. Isn't contempt of court another felony or misdemeanor?
Dave April 18, 2014 at 09:10 am
The death penalty accomplishes three things: It reduces the recidivism rate by 100%. It providesRead More SOME means of closure for the victim's family and friends. It reduces the expense to taxpayers to feed and house the criminals for a very long time. Whether it's a disincentive to commit murder is not fully understood, there is conflicting data. Depends on whether the study was conducted by a liberal or conservative group. One of the countries with the lowest murder (and crime) rate in the world is Singapore. Their justice system pulls no punches, they even execute drug dealers.

Every time I think the Patch cannot post something dumber than the previously dumb article, theRead More editor pulls a rabbit, this case rabbi, out of his bungalow with an article such as this. Keep up the good work Patch; you're sure to surpass Yahoo News as leader of dumb dumb articles.

The man, the accused, has not even been brought to trial yet, he has not been found guilty ofRead More anything, he has not been convicted. You know, that "small" matter of being innocent until proven guilty. It's entirely possible that he's innocent. However, these are very serious charges and I guess the judge ruled that he was an escape risk so the bail was set very high. He's been in jail for 2 years and he hasn't been convicted of anything. Can they speed up trial dates? There are no easy answers, especially when it comes to these very serious charges of terrorism.

Pam, how do you know that he firebombed the synagogue? He's accused, not convicted, not even triedRead More in a jury trial. Who knows, maybe one of the other conspirators pointed to an innocent man to get a plea deal? Or maybe the accused is indeed guilty as sin and should rot in jail. I'll admit that I don't know one way or the other but even the worst scum is innocent until proven guilty.
