Watchung Church Opens Up Annual Flea Market

Moves September event away from vendor fair format.

Watchung's St. Mary's Stony Hill has long held a popular vendor fair in September, organized by the parish's Knights of Columbus, but in an effort to make the fair bigger, this year's event is opening up to everyone with something to sell.

"We are advertising it as a flea market/garage sale where vendors are welcome," organizer Tom Sicola said. "The idea is if people want to rent a slot, they can sell their old garage sale stuff or whatever goods they sell as a franchise business or small crafter."

Sicola said the Knights aim is to draw more vendors, which should in turn, draw more buyers, which helps everyone involved from the vendors to the church's fundraising.

The fea market/garage sale is slated for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 8 and vendors and others are welcome to register for tables now. The fee for a spot is $40.  Vendors keep all proceeds from their sales.
