Local Students Complete College Careers

A look at area students graduating from colleges.

Matthew Edward Balkonis, of Warren, received a bachelor's degree from Washington and Lee University on May 24. Commencement ceremonies for 401 Washington and Lee seniors were held on the university's historic Front Lawn.

Balkonis majored in Chemistry-Engineering.

Mary Pradilla, of Warren, was one of 500 graduates from the College of Saint Elizabeth and received a Masters of Science in Health Care Management at the 2012 Commencement.

Several local residents were among the record number of graduates awarded master's and doctorate of physical therapy degrees by The University of Scranton at its post-baccalaureate commencement on May 26. The University of Scranton conferred 59 doctoral degrees in physical therapy and 762 master's degrees, both of which are records for the University, at the commencement.

Jaclyn E. Bilancia, of Warren, received a master of science in occupational therapy from the Jesuit university's College of Graduate and Continuing Education

Stephanie L. Monteleone, of Warren, received a master of science in reading education from the Jesuit university's College of Graduate and Continuing Education.

Also, Alexandra Bilancia, of Warren, received a bachelor's in psychology in the College of Arts and Sciences. She was among the nearly 900 University of Scranton students earning a bachelor's degrees at its undergraduate commencement on May 27 at the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza in Wilkes-Barre.

Pranav Trivedi, of Warren, received a bachelor of science degree from University of the Sciences during a bachelor's degree conferment ceremony on Friday, May 18. Trivedi now continues on a path towards a doctor of pharmacy degree with an anticipated graduation in May 2014.

Radoslaw Lesniewski, of Warren, received a diploma in Surgical Technologist from Dover Business College during the school's Commencement Ceremony held May 12. Lesniewski studied at the Dover Campus.

Scott Eckenthal, of Warren, graduated from Trinity College in Hartford, Conn., on May 20, majoring in Mathematics, Computer Science. 

 A total of 585 bachelor degrees and 43 master's degrees were awarded at the 186th Commencement ceremonies held on Trinity's historic quadrangle.

At the University of Rhode Island's 126th Commencement on Saturday and Sunday, May 19-20, 2012, almost 3,000 undergraduate and 738 graduate students became the University's newest alumni, including Emily B. Marino and Meghan J. Riley, both of Warren.

Marino received a bachelors degree in Communication Studies.

Riley received a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology, cum laude.
