Watchung Officials Concerned About Cords, Wires on Roads

Officials say to make sure cords, debris aren't on roadway as storm approaches.

The Borough of Watchung is warning residents to check they don't have any cords or debris in the roads, ahead of a storm forecast that includes two to four inches of snow possible.

The concern is that if snowplows are needed, lines could get tangled and cause damage or injury.

"The current forecast predicts 2 to 4” of wintry mix- snow, sleet, and ice.

"It is mandatory that roads are kept clear of parked vehicles, storm debris and especially any extension cords that may be connecting generators from neighbor to neighbor across a Borough road.  These will not be visible to a plow or public works vehicle while they are trying to clear the roads. "
