Watchung OEM Says Beware of Downed Wires

Borough's updates also report "most of Watchung" has power restored.

The following is an update (11/11/12) from the Watchung Emergency Management Team:

Extreme caution is urged when approaching downed wires—they could still be “energized.”  Please keep all children and pets away.  Trees that are damaged and leaning can come down at a moments notice.

Most of Watchung is up and running, however, there still may be some small pockets (areas) with out power. Power companies are still in town and continue to work to restore service.  If you are still without power or know of a street without power, please call it in to the Police non-emergency number at 908-756-3663.

Please know that your emergency service teams continue to work around the clock for your safety.

The following Warming Centers are still operational, however, have reduced their hours:

Brandywine Assisted Living Center – 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

McAuley Hall – 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Don't bother calling the Watchung cops. I've lived in this town for 30+ years and they don't give a crap. This storm really opened my eyes to how individuals, like police officers & mayors, don't know how to handle a crisis situation. It's a small town but I expect more for what I pay in my taxes.
