Volunteers of the Year Named in Green Brook

Veteran firefighter and recreation committee member honored by Township Committee.

A veteran volunteer firefighter and a Recreation Committee member instrumental in the township’s youth basketball program were named volunteers of the year by the Green Brook Township Committee on Monday.

Honored were Stan Schneider, a 39-year member of the Green Brook Fire Department-EMS and Eileen Parker who has been a member of the Green Brook Recreation Committee since 2006 and has been active in the PTO for 15 years.

Schneider, who serves as treasurer of the fire department-EMS, is also active in the Green Brook Lions Club and the Green Brook Seniors.

In addition, Mayor Jerry Searfoss said, Schneider has become a fire policeman, which will allow him to continue being active and at the fire scenes by directing traffic.

Parker, Searfoss said, developed the Saturday youth basketball program and the traveling basketball team. She also sprearheaded bus trips to New York Cityand the Little League World Series.
