Franklin, Joren Enjoy Unchallenged Re-Election Bid

Borough Council members set to return for three more years.

Watchung Borough Council members Thomas Frankin and Debra Joren received 1,541 and 1,537 votes, respectively, making them among the top vote-getters in Tuesday's voting.

Both were running unopposed for re-election to three-year terms.

The vote tallies represent only the voting today, and does not include the votes cast over the weekend in the special early voting the state permitted this year as many residents were battling power outages following Hurricane Sandy. The total number of votes cast—2,439—represents just 55.8 percent of the borough's 4,365 registered voters. Typically, about 80 percent of Watchung voters turnout for presidential elections, so vote totals will certainly change when added.
