Security Policies Under Review in Green Brook

Police chief said Newtown shooting prompted response.

Green Brook Police Chief Martin A. Rasmussen Jr. told residents and district parents that police and school administrators are carefully reviewing security policies following

Rasmussen sent a message through Green Brook's Nixle alert system:

In light of the tragic events that occurred in Newtown Connecticut the Green Brook Police Dept and the Green Brook School administration, would like to let the parents of our school children know that we have security policies in place and are continually reviewing and updating them to provide the safest environment possible for our children.

The police department is primarily concerned with the safety of students, administrators and staff members of the schools, he said. He said police would be working to "provide a secure learning environment for the students of Green Brook Township."
