Pipe Thieves Hamper Mountain Boulevard Project

Watchung Borough Police reports.

The water main replacement project on Mountain Boulevard suffered a setback on June 26, when several sections of pipe were stolen.

Police said CRJ Contracting, the contractor working on the project to replace New Jersey American Water's aging water mains alongside the road which have been prone to breaking and leaking, reported the theft of the pipes from the area where the work is being done. The theft was reported at noon on June 26.

The pipes are valued at $1,500.
  
Watchung police are investigating the theft.
