Authorities said North Plainfield resident was last seen on Dec. 26.

A search for a missing North Plainfield man had officials from the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office canvassing a Watchung Lake all day Thursday, with divers expected to return to the lake Friday morning.

According to Capt. Jack Bennett, spokesman for the prosecutor's office, the missing man is 24 years old and Hispanic. He was reported missing on Dec. 28 and was last seen on Dec. 26.

Authorities believe the man may have worked in the area of Watchung Lake. Water & Wine Ristorante-Taverna is located nearby.

Bennett said the lake was being partially drained and that police would remain at the scene through the night. He said the investigation was ongoing.

Divers concentrated their search Thursday morning in a deep section of the lake about 30 feet off the shoreline, according to NJ.com. Authorities used underwater cameras in frozen sections of the lake and a state police helicopter assisted in the search overhead.
