Man Reporting Lost Wallet Taken into Custody

Watchung police discover outstanding warrant.

Freddy Velastegui, 32, of Dunellen, stopped by the Watchung Borough Police Department to report his wallet had been lost when he got a bit of a surprise.

After filing the report on the lost wallet at about 6:30 p.m. May 30, police performed a routine check and discovered Velastigui had two outstanding warrants issued, including a contempt of court charge.

The warrants were issued by municipal courts in North Plainfield and Tinton Falls, and combined $1,279 in the required cash bond for him to be released.
