$50K Worth of Heroin, Defaced Weapon Seized in Bust

A Plainfield woman was caught with more than 2,500 bags of heroin, a defaced weapon and hollow-point ammunition following a month-long undercover investigation, which included an alleged narcotics deal near a Watchung school, the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office said.

Stacy Ann-Marie Burrell, 27, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with third-degree distribution of a controlled dangerous substance (heroin), third-degree distribution of a CDS within 1,000 feet of a school, second-degree possession of a CDS with intent to distribute, second-degree possession of a firearm while committing a CDS offense and fourth-degree possession of a defaced firearm.

The Somerset County Prosecutor's Office Task Force, Plainfield Police and the Hillsborough Police K-9 Unit executed a search warrant Wednesday of Burrell's home on East Second Street in Plainfield, Soriano said.

Detectives seized 2,513 bags of heroin, a defaced Taurus .38 special revolver loaded with hollow point ammunition, four boxes of hollow point ammunition and $515 in cash, Soriano said.

The heroin seized has an estimated street value of $50,000, Soriano said.

According to Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey Soriano, an undercover detective arranged a heroin purchase from Burrell in a retail store parking lot on Route 22 in Watchung on Oct. 3. The narcotics transaction took place within 1,000 feet of Mount Saint Mary School, Soriano said.

A second heroin transaction was arranged between an undercover detective and Burrell on Terrill Road in Plainfield on Oct. 17, Soriano said.

Burrell was lodged in the Somerset County Jail.
