A Wealth of Knowledge – A Summer Reading List

June brings us halfway through the year, and it is the beginning of summer.  Like many of you, I look forward to some “down time” which will be spent enjoying a good read.  As I was looking through various titles, it seemed like a good time to pass along some books on personal finance that might be of interest you.

Here’s the list (in no particular order)

The Richest Man in Babylon by George S.  Clason

Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki

The Millionaire Next Door by Thomas J Stanley & William D Danko

Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill

Learn to Earn by Peter Lynch

The Millionaire Fastlane by MJ Demarco

Certainly, you don’t have to follow the rules of each of the authors or buy into everything they preach.  You should, however, consider how you apply some of the knowledge you to own personal financial life and your financial goals.

Let’s  for example take “Fast Lane Millionaire” by  MJ DeMarco.  His premise is that one of the ways to  the fast lane wealth track, is to start a company which will impact and/or effect millions, most specifically computer software/app development.  Honestly, the chance of me being able to successfully develop and launch a business in the computer science arena is zilch – nada – none.  But….. I can take his “idea” and put it into the context of my business and personal life.  As I reflect on his advice, I realize I can do a much better job of reaching out to the people who read this blog, therefore touching more people.
