The Wizard of Oz

The classic musical has been adapted to stage and is suitable for audiences of all ages.  We are proud to present it in our state of the art theater.

Script & Cue—the co-curricular student theater group that has brought drama, comedy, and pride to Watchung Hills Regional High School since 1957—invites audiences to return to the magical world of Oz. After a tornado transports her to a land of Technicolor munchkins, diametrically opposed witches, and flashy foot fashions, Dorothy and her pup Toto seek the wisdom of the country's Wizard-in-Chief. Along the way, the duo connects with a familiar cast: the Tin Man who wants a heart, the Scarecrow who seeks a brain, and the Cowardly Lion who's on a quest for courage. The tuneful multi-species quartet learns the true meaning of adventure, and friendship through new songs not found in the movie.

Enlisting the talents of Watchung Hill's finest young thespians, singers and pit musicians, this spring musical production advances Script & Cue's mission of cultivating an interdisciplinary appreciation of the arts. The show's melodies blossom under the musical direction of choir teacher and former Carnegie Hall performer Angela DiIorio Bird, and sets designed by artistic director Douglas Eaton burst with vibrant color. The whole spectacle unfolds inside Watchung Hills Performing Arts Center's 957-seat space, where a state-of-the-art sound system ensures that spectators won't miss a single note.
