Thousands Without Power in Green Brook, Watchung

PSE&G has both municipalities with between 2,001 and 5,000 outages.

Thousands of homes in both Green Brook and Watchung were without power on Tuesday, following the landfall and destruction of Hurricane Sandy.

The storm, which did more damage after turning into a post-tropical storm Monday evening, has made its impact felt on the entire state, especially at the shore. 

PSE&G's outage map had both Green Brook and Watchung experiencing between 2,001 and 5,000 outages each. Tuesday. The few households in each town with JCP&L were also out of power, with all 20 in Green Brook and all 86 out.

Shuttle buses at Irene E. Feldkirchner School were evacuating Green Brook residents as the storm approached New Jersey on Monday. The school's parking lot was already full at 3:30 p.m. 

The water level at Watchung Lake had been lowered to try to reduce downstream flooding.
