Take a Break on Sunday for Special Events

Emergency blood drive and Veterans Day events planned in Watchung.

A pair of events set for Sunday will give residents an excuse to get out.

The New Jersey Blood Service has scheduled emergency blood drives for 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Firemen's Exempt Hall, on Mountain Boulevard. The blood drive is being sponsored by the Covenant Committee of Wilson Memorial Church and St. Mary's Stony Hill Church.

Donors must be at least 16 years old (parental consent required for those under 18), and all donors must weigh at least 110 lbs. If you have questions about your eligibility to donate, call NJ Blood Services at 1-800-933-4566.

And if you're giving blood anytime around 1 p.m., head next door to join the Veterans Day ceremony at the borough Administration Building.

The borough's annual event will pay tribute to veterans from Watchung and is usually held at the Veterans Memorial in front of Texier House, but was moved inside.
