Online Drug Sales Scheme Allegedly Tied to Warren Pharmacist

A Warren resident was charged in connection to an online drug sales scheme federal prosecutors say sold medications without prescriptions. Peter Riccio, 59, was charged with narcotics conspiracy, narcotics distribution, conspiracy to misbrand, misbranding, mail and wire fraud conspiracy and money laundering conspiracy.

A 34-year-old Watchung man was found shot to death inside a parked minivan in Irvington on Dec. 4, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said. Lamont F. Downing was found slumped down in the front seat of the vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds on the 100 block of Melrose Avenue Tuesday at about 10 p.m., Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray said in a statement.

An accident in Middlesex Borough knocked out a transformer and power to many Green Brook residents on Dec. 1.

Ryan Lanza was at his job in Manhattan when news outlets began to report that he had massacred 20 school children in a sleepy Connecticut town. The reports said Lanza, a 24-year-old Quinnipiac University graduate, had murdered someone in his Hoboken apartment and then drove to Newtown, Conn., where he used a .223 caliber rifle and two other guns to kill 27 people before turning the gun on himself.
