Counterfeit Bills Lead to Man's Arrest

Police said man used counterfeit $100 bills at Target.

A 33-year-old Newark man was arrested at the Watchung Target on Nov. 24 after police said he used counterfeit $100 bills at the store.

Akram R. Brown was charged with false uttering and theft by deception. He was released on a $20,000 cash bond after being sent to jail.

According to a press release prepared by Sgt. Robert Faust, Brown and the counterfeit bills were investigated at the store, in the Watchung Square Mall. After his arrest, he appeared before the Hon. Fred H. Kumpf in Somerset County Court.
