Career Steps for Olivia and Tracy on 'Jerseylicious'

Both make efforts to build their personal brands during this week's episode.

Montville High School graduate Olivia Blois-Sharpe takes another step towards her new-found goal of becoming a fashion guru—like Joan Rivers, as she says.

She's enrolled in a hosting class offered at the Scott Powers Studio, in New York.

"Hosting is just like doing make-up and I'm hoping to learn a lot from this hosting class," she says.

The class starts well enough, but when instructor Scott stops her during a teleprompter lesson to tell her she needs to work on her diction—chiding her on her New Jersey accent, saying "thawt" for thought, "coh-fee" and "m-wall."

"If you want to be a good TV host, you need to appeal to people from across the country," he tells her. "Right now, you're appealing to people about five blocks from here."

Olivia anxiously begins working on the assignment for the next class: developing a concept for a TV show.

Meanwhile, Tracy DeMarco develops a "tease kit," complete kits with a two combs, root lifter and a manual for getting the big hair look they love on "Jerseylicious."

She enlists her friend Sammy to help assemble them. Initially planned as a gift to be given at her pending wedding to Corey, she ups the ante by asking Anthony Roberts owner Anthony Lombardi if she can sell the kits at the salon—and gets the green light.

"I am really excited about this kit because I think it could really do something for me," she says.

The kits are selling well, when Olivia stops by the salon to talk to Anthony—her idea for a show is to interview Anthony on his book about the history of New Jersey salon innovations.

Tracy suggests Olivia do something featuring her tease kits...and the sparks begin anew...

"I came in to talk to Anthony, not to talk about some janky project by my least favorite person," Olivia says. Asks Tracy if the product is finished "because it doesn't look very professional."

Tracy shoots back "I thought you might want to do something that would be good for both of us."

Later, Anthony meets Gatsby Salon owner Gayle Giacomo for dinner, and he tells her about having fired Filippo after Filippo decided to pose for Playgirl magazine and his troubles with Cathy. Gayle agrees with Anthony, and suggest he leave Cathy alone for a while.

He teases her about going into partnership, saying, "I'd have to worry about you posing for Playboy."

"No, and not my daughter either," Gayle laughs. "Maybe Babies R Us."

"That I could handle," Anthony says.

Back at class, Olivia presents "The Olivia Show"—a show about fashion and style featuring her guest Anthony Lombardi to talk about his book. Her planned interview goes awry when instructor Scott stops the show because there is no book.

Olivia switches gears and goes gossipy with Anthony, asking him to dish dirt on his troubles at the salon—and with Cathy.

The show ends well and Olivia earns praise from the instructor and her classmates.

"I'm feeling more confident than ever about becoming a TV host," she says.
