Black Friday Draws Large, Tame Crowd at Walmart
Shoppers wait a little longer to get inside Watchung store after opening pushed to midnight.
If you wanted to be at the front of the line outside the Watchung Walmart you needed to be there on Thanksgiving at 1 p.m. That's what time Laura McCalman started the line in hopes of scoring a 50-inch TV and a laptop.
By the time midnight arrived when the doors opened, the line extended almost to the back of the parking lot. There was a significant police presence but everyone on the line was in good spirits.
The Watchung Borough Council passed an ordinance earlier this month that forced the store to not open until midnight due to safety concerns.
