Andrew McCarthy Coming to Metuchen

The actor is participating in a fundraiser for the Metuchen Library.

Actor Andrew McCarthy is heading to Metuchen for a fundraiser on behalf of the Metuchen Library.

According to a release from the library, the Friends of the Metuchen Library are holding the fundraiser at The Forum Theatre on Main Street in Metuchen from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. March 3.

All proceeds from the event, with McCarthy as the guest, will go toward improvements to the children's room and the public meeting room.

McCarthy, a New Jersey native, has appeared in films including "Pretty in Pink," "St. Elmo's Fire," "The Joy Luck Club" and many more. He has also appeared on television shows including "White Collar," "Royal Pains" and "Gossip Girl."

Aside from this, McCarthy has starred on Broadway, and is an award-winning travel writer, currently serving as editor-at-large for "National Geographic Traveler."

McCarthy will be holding a meet and greet before the fundraiser, and his book, "The Longest Way Home," can be purchased in advance.

Tickets are $12 per person for a ticket; $40 per person for one ticket plus a place at the 1 p.m. meet and greet with McCarthy; or $75 for two individual tickets plus two places at the meet and greet.

Tickets can be purchased online at FOTML.org, in person at the Metuchen Public Library or at the Marafiki Fair Trade on New Street in Metuchen.

McCarthy's book can be purchased at the library.
