Whether for Flowers or Garden Needs, Readers Choose Bardy Farms

This week's Readers' Choice poll winner proved a double threat.

It's easy to see why readers chose as this week's Readers' Choice winner: stand inside the almost-an-acre sized covered greenhouse and look at the thousands of perfect, hand-sown plants.

Whether you're shopping for bouquet flowers, garden flowers—or for that matter, ground flour—Bardy's is the place to go. Part greenhouse, part garden center, part florist, part grocer...it's a delight to visit and just walk through the aisles of plants.

Started in 1904, the business is run by son-and-father Rob and Phil Bardy, who hand plants each seed that is now ready to bloom in your garden.

Congratulations to our newest Readers' Choice winner.

Look for our next poll Monday morning—we'll ask which area restaurant is your favorite for Mother's Day.

My Aunt Helen, now in her 90's, would walk with me to the Bardy stand on Vauxhall Rd. in Union to purchase his wonderful fresh produce. I remember his smile and warm greeting. Across the street was a white pony I loved and wanted to buy with 4c. Aunt Helen and Mr. Bardy said go ahead and try. I asked......alas...it was not to be.
