Capitol Lighting Looks to Brighten Area Job Market

Company positioning to capitalize on improving real estate market.

Looking for signs of an improving economy? If so, then look no further than plans being laid by New Jersey-based Capitol Lighting, which is seeking an unlimited number of sales people for retail and its expanding online sales.

The 88-year old company sees a potential for growth as the real estate market and economy improve, and company President Eric Lebersfeld notes this is the time to be ready for any upswing.

"We need the right people on the bus to help us grow—and it's not necessarily a finite number," he said.

Lebersfeld said Capitol Lighting has pulled back as the real estate market declined in 2007-2009, which is causing some surprising possibilities now.

"It gave us the opportunity to figure out how to work smarter, and work leaner," he said.

The company sees potential for substantial growth through its online sales, one of the prime areas for sales growth. The company restructured its Internet programs, and expects to realize strong gains as the market improves.

"It's been exceptionally challenging but we are seeing it come back," Lebersfeld said about the state of the economy. He added 660 lighting showcase businesses failed during the downturn, and added, "We intend not to be the 661st."

The company has four showrooms in New Jersey—Green Brook, Paramus, Eatontown and at the East Hanover main office—and four in Florida. Sales positions are open in all locations, which now feature the same pricing as the company's online sales department.

New employees will be trained, and Lebersfeld the company strives to provide a quality workpplace environment.

"It may sound trite but we have a (motto) of 'Making lives brighter,'" he said. "We try to talk the talk and walk the Walk."

Anyone interested one of the position can apply by sending an email to the company HR department.
