Sometimes there's just not enough days to go around, but each week we'll give you an idea of something to do to relax, spend time with family or just take some time for yourself.
This week, you can put on your beret and tap your inner artist by signing up for four (or perhaps one) long pose figure sessions with artist Maryann Ficker at the Watchung Arts Center, 18 Stirling Road, in Watchung.
Classes will feature one model maintaining the same pose for all four sessions. The long sessions are designed to provide artists enough time to complete a figure painting or detailed drawing. Open to all artists and is non-instructional.
Ficker will be a facilitator during the classes, which can be taken as a four-session program or, if room is available, on a single-session basis.
This class will feature a nude model. The Watchung Arts Center said it will feature both clothed and nude models in future sessions.
Artists ages 15 to 18 must have a signed letter of parental permission accompanying their completed registration prior to admittance to class.
Classes are scheduled for 7:30 to 10 p.m. on Thursdays, Feb. 28 and March 7, 14 and 21
The fee $50 for four sessions. Class size is small, capped at eight artists, and filled on a first-come first-served basis. Walk-ins welcome, space permitting, for $15 per session.
Artists may arrive 15 minutes early to set up, and must provide their own easel, small table and medium of choice. Oil painters are asked to use only artist's odorless solvents, with no turpentine. Class will be held in the first floor studio of the center.
