5 & 10 Reading Program for Families

Check out 5 books from Watchung Library and spend 10 minutes (or more!) reading to your children.  Why?    Regardless of social class, children whose parents frequently read with them in their first year of school are still showing the benefit when they are 15, according to a recent international study. Give a lifelong prize to your children - read to them!   Come to the Watchung Public Library – your source for thousands of free stories to borrow. You won’t want to read just one!  After checking out five books, add your name to the wall of 5 &10 Readers.

Don't know what to select?  Just ask!  You can also pick five books by the same author, or five books by your child's favorite subject (dogs, trucks, etc). Check displays for new or themed books.   It's OK  to move on to another story if it's not to your child's interest, or you can repeat it again and again, if it is!  The most important thing is that you are sharing time - and stories - together.
