YMCA to Help Everyone Get Healthy

All three county branches will be celebrating Healthy Kids Day this weekend.

Sometimes there's just not enough days in the week, but every Wednesday we'll give you an idea of something to do to relax, spend time with family and just take some time for yourself.

This weekend it's time for a little health as we celebrate Healthy Kids Day with the Somerset Valley YMCA.

The  is celebrating the free community event, along with almost 2,000 other YMCA's across the country. The event will feature lots of active, fun and educational activities for stimulating mind and body.

According to a release from the YMCA, the event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and feature such activities as volleyball, archery, scuba diving, cheerleading and swimming, plus lots of healthy snacks.

“At the Bridgewater Family Y, we know that when the school year ends, many kids lose exposure to activities that keep them moving and learning. Healthy Kids Day will help parents begin thinking early about what their kids need to do to stay physically and intellectually active in the summer,” said Tim Dry, branch executive director of the Bridgewater YMCA, in the release. “Summer is just around the corner and is an ideal time for kids to get out and grow so they are healthier and sharper when the next school year begins.”
