Watchung Little League Opening Day Parade

Perfect weather for opening day as 14 teams march play on opening day

The Watchung Little League celebrated its annual opening day Saturday with a parade of all the teams. After a rainy week, the parade was delayed so that the volunteer grounds crew could get the fields ready for the opening games.

At the opening day ceremony following the parade the league recognized former Mayor Jerry Mobus, who passed away last month. Mayor Mobus, a lifelong Watchung resident and standout player on the Watchung Hills High School baseball team, was an active supporter of the Little League and a former coach and umpire.

The ceremonial first pitches were thrown out by Watchung Schools Superintendent Barbara Resko and Mayor Stephen Pote.
