BRIDGEWATER, NJ - The 22nd annual Taste of Somerset, the area’s original gourmet tasting event provides the unique opportunity to sample the finest appetizers, entrees, desserts, and beverages that the region has to offer. Taste has continued to grow through the decades and the 2014 event will again provide guests with an ultimate dining experience for the 22nd consecutive year.

Taste is scheduled for Monday, May 19, 2014 from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at The Palace at Somerset Park, 333 Davidson Avenue in Somerset, New Jersey, the area’s premier catering facility. Proceeds from the event support the PeopleCare Center and the non-profit tenants housed in the facility at 120 Finderne Avenue in Bridgewater, NJ. PeopleCare is celebrating its 30th Anniversary in 2014.

 

Taste tickets are available at a discounted price of $65 for the all-you-can-eat event if purchased before January 31, 2014 ($75 thereafter). The 2014 Taste of Somerset will feature chefs from more than forty of the region’s best restaurants and more than one dozen beverage providers. Guests will stroll through the Palace, sampling the finest fare from the area’s best restaurants.

 

“Taste of Somerset provides a unique opportunity to sample the county’s finest restaurants,” stated Marie Hughes, Executive Director of the PeopleCare Center. “It is a terrific experience for anyone who enjoys dining out. Tickets make great gifts for friends, relatives, and business associates.”

 

BACKGROUNDER

“Taste of Somerset,” has become a model for culinary fund raising events. Hundreds of local businesses have benefited from the exposure and thousands have enjoyed the finest cuisine representing every corner of the world. And most importantly, the tenants of the PeopleCare Center, and the thousands upon thousands of the people that they serve, have benefited from the money that has been raised. “Taste” has generated more than $350,000 for the PeopleCare Center. The funds raised serve to provide a secure, comfortable, and affordable home to non-profit agencies.

 

PeopleCare Center was established in 1984 as a permanent home for human service agencies. PeopleCare is a private non-profit organization in Somerset County which provides a physical plant to house non-profit agencies and organizations at below market cost.  The Center seeks to maximize the accomplishment of community service goals by encouraging sharing of human and physical resources. Among the services addressed by PeopleCare tenants are homelessness, literacy, child care, foster care children, education, and individuals of all ages with various disabilities.
