5 Cars

5 Cars That Won't Break the Bank

These cars are all under $5,000.

If you’re looking for a great new ride to get your day started off just right, we’ve got some vehicles being sold right around the corner. We've talked about saving gas money, the expenses aligned with vehicles and all the extras that come associated with that perfect vehicle. But we feel a little bad for recommending spending so much money all the time. So this week, we want to take a step back and go to the extreme by offering five options for used vehicles that are on the market for less than $5,000—because we know sometimes it really is "Mo' Money, Mo' Problems." 1. 2001 Kia Sephia — Used — $1,997 From Cars.com: Yes, it has 67,986 miles on it already, but you can't really beat that price for a vehicle. Plus, it's got tinted glass, two-…

Always remember, once you have purchased a used car always check the NHTSA website for open recalls on the vehicle. Recalls do not expire and are performed for FREE at any authorized dealership for that brand vehicle. In my line of work I have seen bad things happen that could have been prevented if an open recall had been performed.   more ›

Bow Tie Cinemas Agrees to Purchase Clearview

Cablevision sells 41 venues to Ridgefield, Conn. chain.

Bow Tie Cinemas of Ridgefield, Conn. announced it has purchased 41 Clearview Cinema theaters from Cablevision, a published report said Monday. With the acquisition, which will make Bow Tie the nation’s number 8 exhibition company, Bow Tie vows to pay for “key upgrades that are designed to enhance the movie-going experience,” including digital and 3D projection, according to a report on the website Deadline.com. Clearview currently has 26 theaters in New Jersey, the report said. Cablevision bought the venues in 1998 and put the chain up for sale last year. Welp, I took advantage of the discounted tickets and definitely the free Tuesday night movies during the summer months. I really can't see paying full price for a movie now especially since I haven't seen a good movie since Forest Gump. Time to do some shopping.   more ›

'Decadent' Cupcake Shop Opens in Mall

Crumbs Bake Shop brings twists on classic cupcake flavors.

Frozen yogurt, ice cream—and now the Bridgewater Commons Mall has added cupcakes to its list of confections. Crumbs Bake Shop officially opened its doors April 5, bringing its decadent cupcakes that are larger than your average treat. “Our signature cupcake is about 1.5 times the size of a regular store-bought cupcake,” said Quinn Solomon, publicist for Crumbs. “However, we do have a regular size cupcake, ‘our classic,’ and a small size, our ‘taste size.’” The business, which officially opened in 2003, boasts three signature, and most popular, cupcakes, Solomon said. Those are the Red Velvet, Peanut Butter Cup and Cookies n’ Cream. “Our decadence [is what people enjoy most],” she said. “We have some of the most unique flavors and twists on…

Bit of Shopping, Bit of '80s Save 'Jerseylicious'

Sharpe's new job and DiMarco's birthday highlight this week's episode.

This week's episode of "Jerseylicious" was broken down into two very different pieces—a mid-life crisis at age 25 and moving forward with a new career. Part of the episode focused on Montville High School graduate Olivia Blois Sharpe's new gig at Bergen.com, as she began to learn the ins and outs of being a tv stylist. After an incident with the copy machine (it is difficult to navigate), she got to see how her mentor, and boss, handles a segment on style. And then she got the opportunity to do it herself. "I was really excited to do my own haul, but I was a little worried about making it up to par," Sharpe said in the "Jerseylicious" style blogs. "When you're asked to talk directly to a camera, and you have to think carefully about what …
