The Camden Riversharks defeated the Somerset Patriots 4-3 before 5,992 fans at TD Bank Ballpark on Thursday evening.
Camden scored in the first on a solo homerun by Delwyn Young (1) for the 1-0 lead.
An RBI single by Lloyd Turner brought home Eduardo Perez in the second inning to increase the Riversharks lead to 2-0.
The Riversharks scored again in the third after Young (2) drove his second homerun of the game over the right field wall to make the score 3-0.
Somerset got on the board in the bottom half of the third inning after Dan Hennigan scored on a sacrifice fly by Corey Smith to cut the lead to 3-1.
Camden answered right back the following inning with a run on a solo homerun by Perez (7) for the 4-1 advantage.
The Patriots cut the lead to 4-2 in the bottom of the seventh inning after Joe Holden doubled and scored on a fielder’s choice by Dan DeGeorge.
Corey Smith (3) drove a solo homerun over the left field wall to get the Patriots within one run to make the score 4-3 in the eighth.
Camden starter Keith Weiser (6-6) got the win after allowing a run, while striking out six in six innings of work. Somerset starter Sean Green (3-4) picked up the loss, allowing four runs on five hits in six innings pitched. John Lujan earned his 22nd save of the season after pitching a scoreless ninth inning.
The 2012 Somerset Patriots season will continue at home on Friday night when the Patriots take on the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs at 7:05 pm. The game features a Post-Game Fireworks Show.
