Outdoor Summer Concert Returns to Chabad in New Jersey

Everyone loves an outdoor summer concert, and the Chabad Jewish Center in Basking Ridge is inviting everyone to the Mercedes Feldman Summer Kick Off Concert & Acrobat Show from 3 to 7 p.m. this Sunday.

The Jewish Center has been gearing up for an event that will appeal to families, offering two live bands, an exciting acrobat show, games, crafts, two kiddie bounce houses and a kosher barbeque, said Rabbi Yitzchok Moully, Chabad's program director.

“For the last few years, we've held a full-day Jewish Music and Art Festival,” Moully said. “This year, we are returning to our roots with an afternoon concert and acrobat show."

The Acrobat show will be performed by the talented circus quality group ‘Cirquetacular,' he said.

The main musical performers will be:

  • "Freedom Season," a new singer-songwriter duo with a Jewish flair.
  • "Pitom," a New York-based, Jewish jazz-punk-jam band.

The concert and show will be held on Chabad’s seven-acre campus at 3048 Valley Road in Basking Ridge. The festival organizers are expecting to attract more than 500 people, including Jewish and non-Jewish music and fun fans.

“This event will have lots of energy and will really bring the community together in an exciting way," Moully, who is organizing the festival. "This is the only such event in the region and people in for a real treat!"

“This will be a family program for the entire community,” said Moully. “We hope it will be enjoyed by people of all ages.”

The concert and show also is an opportunity for the wider community to come out experience and enjoy Jewish culture and creativity. "Bring a blanket, spread out, and enjoy the diverse sounds and sights of Jewish music today," Moully said.

The concert and show will run from 3 to 7 p.m. Parking is available on site as well as across Valley Road.

Tickets are $5 for children and $10 for adults before June 8, and $8 for children and $15 for adults at the door. Tickets can be purchased at www.JMAfest.com Children under 2 are free.
