In the ongoing discussions of how to prevent additional school shootings similar to the Dec. 14 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Connecticut, schools have been feeling the most pressure to take action.

And while school security was the first area reviewed, on Tuesday, members of the Watchung Hills Regional Board of Education will dive deeper into the issue and consider a resolution endorsing President Barack Obama's recommendations aimed at stemming such mass killings. 

The resolution, if approved, would express the board's "full support of President Obama’s gun control initiatives as an important and necessary step towards limiting or eliminating gun violence in our country and in our country’s schools and public areas."

The resolution also seeks to obtain similar endorsements of other school districts and encourages New Jersey's Congressional delegation, as well as state officials, to approve the recommendations.
