A Watchung resident reported her email account had been hacked into and used to distribute bogus reports she was in danger, as part of an Internet scam.

The resident reported the incident on Feb. 11, and police are continuing to investigate.

Borough police also responded to eight shoplifting reports, including a man and a woman with the same last name who were both charged in connection to a shoplifting report at BJ's Wholesale Club.
