Rock Hunter Charged with Theft, Trespassing
Brooklyn man facing charges after rock hunting in Watchung quarry.
Mark Bianchi, 57, of Brooklyn, was charged with theft and trespassing on Weldon Quarry property at 12:43 p.m. Sept. 9, after New Jersey Fish and Wildlife officers reported observing him leaving the property.
Police said Binachi had gained access to the property by crawling under a fence. He was found to have about 50 rocks with crystals taken from the quarry property.
He was also charged with possessing tools used to commit burglaries.
Bianchi was released after the charges were filed, with a possible requirement to reimburse the quarry for the rocks to be levied later, according to police.
