Green Brook Evacuations to RVCC, Not Watchung Hills
Change has residents heading to county emergency shelter site.
Green Brook officials are preparing plans for residents to be evacuated to a shelter, but it will not be Watchung Hills Regional, as was originally a possibility.
Residents who need emergency shelter will be heading to Raritan Valley Community College, which is one of Somerset County's shelters.
Residents will be able to go to Irene E. Feldkirchner School, where shuttles will take them to RVCC. The shuttles would run throughout the duration of Hurricane Sandy.
Residents going to the shelter will need to bring ID, a pillow, towels, blankets and extra clothing.

Why not put in addresses of key locales? Not all residents know where these schools are.

The IEF Elementary School is located on the corner of Andrew Street and Park Avenue. From Rt 22, take the Washington Avenue South turn, go to first light and make a right on to Park Ave. School is at end of street.
The High School is located at 108 Stirling Road in Warren. Take Warrenville Road north (if you get to 78 you went too far) and make a right on Mountain Avenue. Go to light at Stirling Road and make a right. School on left side.

God bless to all in Green Brook. We've been through this a few times and we will get through this one too. One community together.

Please note that Watchung Hills Regional High School (WHRHS) is no longer an emergency shelter for Green Brook. As noted in the article this has been changed to Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC), 118 Lamington Road, Branchburg, New Jersey 08876, 908-526-1200. If going direct, take Route 22 West and Turn right onto Orr Dr/Raritan Valley College Dr. This is about 13 miles from the intersection of Route 22 and Washington Ave. in Green Brook.

Thank you. I meant to link the school to our directory, which has the address and a map.

WHRHS is a second choice by the Red Cross for shelter, since it is not as accessible by major roads as RVCC. If you need to go to the shelter, you are probably better off taking one of the shuttles, rather than driving.
