The Gatsby Salon, of Green Brook, hosted on Friday night a special event, Blowouts for the Cure, where the salon sought to raise money for the Young Survival Coalition, a group dedicated to helping young women diagnosed with breast cancer.

"We've participated in a number of events with other organizations, St Jude's, Locks for Love, and others, but this one helps support young survivors and I thought that would be great," said salon owner, Gayle Giacomo, a Bridgewater resident. "I also think it was time for our little Gatsby community to give back to the community, some companies go paintballing, we said why not raise money for cancer."

The Gatsby Salon is the setting for the reality TV show "Jerseylicious." The salon offered henna tattoos, "pink drinks" and a DJ played music.

"It is hard enough when you are old, but when you are young and go through cancer, it is really hard," added one of the event's organizers, Chiara Oliveira. "I know a 10 year old girl that is a survivor of ovarian cancer and it is very difficult."
