Boccio, Herrmann Re-Elected to Township Committee
Voters also fill seats on board of education for the first time in a general election.
Incumbents Pat Boccio and Ken Herrmann rode a strong Republican tide to outpace Democrats David Breen and Tom Tsivgas, and win re-election to the Green Brook Township Committee.
Boccio and Herrmann received 1,414 and 1,388 votes, respectively, to Breen's 1,066 and Tsivgas' 1,140 votes.
The candidates credited their campaign efforts knocking on doors and meeting residents as the key to their success.
"We put our best effort out there and the residents repsonded to that," Boccio said. "In the end, none of us are professional politicians; we're all really in it for the best interests of Green Brook."
Herrmann noted the impact Hurricane Sandy had on the campaign, taking away a week of potential door-knocking and putting the incumbents in a different position dealing with the needs of residents left without power, water and heat.
"It was kind of interesting how the storm caused such a turn-around with our campaign," he said, adding the candidates had to drop campaign plans to tend to the needs of residents and the township in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.
Complete election results will be added to this article as soon as available.

Congratulations Ken and Pat on your win. Sorry I couldn't help celebrate your victory Tuesday night, but like many, Sharon and I are still without power and are one of the areas vagabonds, moving around here and there.
Much success to you and Green Brook when you start your new terms!
