Be a Rock Star with Craigslist Bargains

Your neighbors can help you start your musical career, without shelling out top dollar.

Who wouldn't want the life of a rock star? We're talking about the self-actualizing parts of creating your own music, performing for apreciative audiences and saying goodbye to the office cubicle.

It's a tough road—very few actually achieve it—but these days, it's easier than ever to create a library of your own music, share and even sell it to fans around the world and to start building your rock star lifestyle.

But you'll need a few things to get started, and as it turns out, some of your neighbors are selling just what you need on Craiglists.

You'll need some instruments, perhaps a Tama drum set ($150) to get started, or this Casio CT-380 keyboard ($50)—or this spinet piano (not so great for rock, but a piano is always good to have). More sophisticated users might want to check out this Alesis Q49 MIDI controller.

If you're ready for real rocking, get this Ibanez RG770 guitar ($600) and plug it into this portable Aria amp for another $20. Complement your guitar rig with some speakers or a POD miniamp.

No talent? No problem: pick up this iPad 3 and create your riffs on Garage Band, or bag the whole idea and just enjoy your favorite rockers on this iPod.
