Green Brook Girl Scouts Earn Silver Award

Five more girls from Green Brook's Troop 86 have achieved the Girl Scout Silver Award, which is the highest award attainable for Cadette Scouts.  The award is earned by completing a series of requirements culminating in a comprehensive leadership service project.

Samantha DeGisi, Krista Johnson and Juhee Vaidya's project involved volunteering with the senior citizens at The Chelsea Assisted Living Facility in Warren.  Early on in their project definition, the girls identified helping seniors as their goal.  They spent many Sunday afternoons at The Chelsea - leading B-I-N-G-O games, sharing home baked treats and spending many hours visiting with the residents at the facility.

Stephanie Chavanne and Kate Stoll identified helping animals as the goal of their project.  These girls worked with the Plainfield Area Humane Society.  They photographed the individual animals and wrote up short bios to accompany the pictures on the PAHS website with the hope of providing useful information to prospective pet adopters.  In addition, they conducted a food & supplies collection, donating hundreds of items to the shelter.

All the girls gave selflessly of their time and talents to make a positive impact on their community!
